Stand-up comedy is the hardest form of live communication there is. A comedian walks onto a stage with no slides, no script visible to the audience, and roughly seven seconds to earn attention from a room of strangers. Then they have to hold it — for an hour — while staying authentic, responsive, and clear.

Contact Us →A typical engagement starts with a short conversation — twenty minutes to understand who's in your room, what they're already good at, and what's standing in the way. From there, we propose a format, a timeline, and a scope. You approve it, we deliver it, and we follow up afterward to see what stuck.
Sessions are delivered in English. Bilingual facilitators are available on request. We work in-person in Shanghai, on-site at your office anywhere in China, or remotely for distributed teams.
Comedy Corner's training programs are led by Ian Badenhorst and a roster of working professional comedians.
Ian has produced live comedy for 15 years and performed for 10. Before 2020, he toured with and opened for international headliners across the global comedy circuit. When China's borders reopened in 2022, he joined Spicy Comedy Club as China's first full-time foreign English-language stand-up comedian, and in 2024 he was named That's Shanghai People's Choice Comedian of the Year.
Every trainer we work with is an active, performing stand-up comedian. The techniques we teach aren't theory — they're what we use ourselves, every Friday night, in front of paying audiences.
